Hello! I am a veteran
ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) Teacher & Spanish Teacher well versed in working with adults, teenagers and children. One of my passions is teaching adults ESOL and tutoring small groups or individuals of all ages in ESOL, English and Spanish.
I focus on addressing each student's goals, the "Why" behind their learning, and scaffolding their skills to achieve greater competence. My teaching and tutoring is based on interactive activities that create a student-centered experience. Furthermore, as a Spanish and French speaker, I understand how important language is in acclimating to society and to our cultural belonging. I love to see students gain skills and confidence as they work with me (and follow their bliss!).
I have been blessed with a wonderful education as a transfer student from Binghamton University to Cornell University, where I majored in French Literature and danced in over a dozen student and faculty works. I received a masters in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from the esteemed teaching college, Manhattanville College, where I immersed myself in teaching pedagogy and had life-changing experiences living & studying in Cuernavaca, Mexico. For these reasons, one of my goals with my Spanish students is to have them cultivate an aptitude in the language and ignite a hunger within to study abroad.
